FS#1011 - Invisible diamond/iron chests / players / mobs
hey nide. as we discussed one or 2 weeks ago berry and i got an issue that we sometimes see chests (diamond or iron), other player, ourselves or mobs invisible or partly invisible.
I tried to force the mistake but was not that successful. Here are some information that might help you.
1. The problem is not simultaneously present for me and Berry. (using same internet connection). sometimes i have it sometime she has it or we both have it.
2. Sometimes chests,players and mobs are invisible. Sometimes just one of them.
3. The degree of invisibility is not always the same. sometimes i can see part of mobs sometimes nothing at all except the shadow of it. (no really pattern what degree of invisibility comes when)
4. Quitting game and restarting helps. Re-logging not.
5. I thought it occurred sometimes after i tp to other players.
that is all so far.
i forgot to mention this and i think its really important.
At the moment when nothing is invisible for me i have one problem Double normal chest are not one for me but i see the 2 single chest.

I remember someone reported this to do with changing render distances. Could be related to it.
For me this only occurs when I set my Entity Render Distance really high and I can't fix it any way other than restarting craftland.
The screenshot does not show a bug. The double chests are a result of the render-setting "Chests: Fast" in your video options
For the render bugs build showed me before (actual invisible entities and tile-entities (models))
This happens when you run out of GPU memory or OpenGL errors occur (unnoticed)
Its not a bug in the code.
Last time build had this problem he sent me screenshot of a free standing sign where only the post would render not the top part.
From the code point of view this is impossible to happen.
That means that the open-gl display lists for those models are corrupt.
For some systems this happens simply because of out of memory errors, this might be impossible to fix.
But it can for sure be improved.
I tested the craftland client myself on around 10 different computes over the last 2-3 years.
Unfortunately not one of them had render issues like that.
Unless I get my hands on a system with a bad (Intel ™) video card its impossible for me to fix the issues or improve the behaviour.
Tweaking this remotely is impossible.
If I had spare money I would just buy a crappy laptop/computer with an Intel HD 4000
nide: i had the problem with the nvidia NVS 5400M and with the intel HD graphics 4000.
if you need to use my pc just let me know nide. we can always try to force the problem with my bad graphic card via teamviewer.
Ty for the info i will change the rendering settings for the chests.
I'm not entirely sure why it happens on both cards. I guess it does not always use the Nvidia Card.
I will add the graphics card name to the F3 info next update. So we can be really sure what card is currently used.
I will talk to you on teamspeak (in german) about using your laptop to test things.
